Auxiliary drives for ship applications

Thousands of VEM low-voltage motors are reliably used on ships worldwide. Depending on the drive task, the engines drive compressors, anchor and mooring winches, hoists, fans in cooling and air conditioning systems or feed pumps for oils, fuels, process and fire-fighting water.

For operation in potentially explosive areas, VEM low-voltage motors with different types of ignition protection can be used as auxiliary drives. VEM motors are used for both essential services and non-essential services drives.
VEM has robust asynchronous machines available for the upper low-voltage and medium-voltage ranges, which are used as versatile deck and auxiliary drives.
