Fire gas engines, also known as fire gas engines or smoke engines, are special engines designed to operate in extreme conditions, particularly in the event of a fire. They are often used in security systems to ensure the safety of people and the integrity of buildings.
Fire gas engines are characterized by their high temperature resistance, which allows them to withstand the extreme conditions of a fire. They are resistant to smoke, moisture and other harmful gases that can be produced during a fire. Their reliability is crucial as they must provide consistent performance even in extreme conditions to ensure the necessary safety measures. These motors are made from special materials that are particularly robust and heat-resistant. In addition, they comply with special standards and regulations, such as EN 12101-3, which apply to safety equipment in buildings.
Fire gas engines have a wide range of applications in safety-critical systems. In smoke and heat exhaust systems, they are used to remove smoke and hot gases from a building in the event of a fire, improving visibility and making evacuation easier. They also power fire and smoke dampers, which open or close in the event of a fire to control the spread of smoke and flames. In emergency power generators, fire gas engines ensure that energy continues to be provided for vital systems in the event of a fire. In certain industrial and commercial buildings, they ensure adequate ventilation in ventilation systems even in the event of a fire. Finally, they are used in elevator drives to ensure that elevators can operate safely in the event of a fire, especially for emergency responders.
Based on the proven basic design of the VEM asynchronous motor series, a series was developed for use in mechanical smoke and heat extraction devices using specially modified insulation systems, bearings and connection technology.
Fire gas motors run under normal conditions as conventional fan motors and are designed in such a way that in the event of a fire, depending on the customer’s specifications, they have to work at highly elevated temperatures for a certain period of time and are then allowed to fail. During development, the engines were subjected to strict tests in which the accident situations were simulated as far as possible.
